On Wednesday, July 31st the museum welcomed over 50 campers and counselors from the Wading River location of Kiddie Academy. Campers in all grades of elementary school were given a tour of the museum including a fire safety presentation which covered how to contact 911 in an emergency, proper methods to escape a fire and other aspects of fire prevention and safety in the home. Of particular interest to all age groups was seeing the protective clothing and equipment used by firefighters including bunker gear and our highly interactive thermal imaging camera display which allows firefighters to "see" in smoke conditions to locate victims, hidden pockets of fire, etc.
We thank Kiddie Academy for visiting us and extend appreciation to our dedicated volunteer museum staff who provided this fun and informative presentation to the campers.
