On Sunday June 23rd, the museum welcomed the DiGiovanna family along with a large contingent of members from the Great River FD for an unveiling ceremony of a memorial stone honoring the legacy of Ex-Chief James DiGiovanna. As a member of the Islip Town Fire Chiefs Council, Ex-Chief DiGiovanna who was currently serving as a Commissioner of the Great River Fire District was instrumental in providing landscaping services through his family's landscaping business in support of the Town of Islip Firefighters Line of Duty memorial that was dedicated at the museum several years ago by the Islip Town Fire Chiefs Council. The memorial garden was dedicated in his honor with a memorial stone noting his contribution to the project.
